Swipe to see how slap-happy we get at the end of our shoot... Even in foggy drizzle, engagement photos can be amazing. And the best thing about them is that no one else is around! Harkness State Park in Waterford, CT gets CRAZY busy in the spring/summer/fall and while it`s arguably the prettiest place to take photos in the state, the amount of people that go there to do the same is staggering sometimes! To get around easily without as many people, it`s best to schedule your shoot on a Monday or Tuesday evening. And of course, hire a photographer who knows some secret spots away from the crowds! 🙃 ⁠

Which images mean the most to you? ✨️ I feel like sometimes we go into our wedding day thinking that portraits or the first kiss photo are most important. But what I often hear is that the favorite photos are of people`s loved ones. It could be a candid shot of a dad listening to a toast or a silly moment with one of your best friends or a funny dancing photo of your mom or a photo of a little laugh between you and your gram. Ultimately, your wedding day photos are the beginning of a little collection of photos that you will build over the course of your life. These photos are proof of your life, proof of all the people you love or have loved, and mostly, proof of love. And in these times, love (and family - chosen or otherwise) is pretty much everything. These photos are your love legacy. (And PSA: Please print these beautiful little reminders of love, even if you put them in a box in your closet that you don`t open for 20 years, you will absolutely treasure them in the years to come. Typically this time of year, I`m really working the Instagram game (this is not my favorite game to play - I`d much rather play Yahtzee or even, Uno!) But this year? Not so much. After spending December traveling around Southeast Asia, I came back to holiday craziness and then completely hit a wall. I was so exhausted and in need of a break that I hibernated as best as I could and put pretty much everything on hold. It was such a departure from my usual winter productivity. Now as winter is transitioning to spring, I can feel my creativity coming back to life and I just feel more refreshed in general. (But it doesn`t come without the guilt of rest.) Why am I even telling you all this? I guess I just want to emphasize the importance of allowing ourselves to rest when we`re not as productive as usual or just not feeling like we usually do. Maybe you need a break from wedding planning? Take it. Everything will still be there when you`re ready to jump back in. Here`s to honoring where we are in this moment and moving forward when we`re ready!⁠
